This is the second posting of my intro. I finished Level 1 in October 2002.

Hello fellow cleansers!

It took me some time to get here but I am glad I finally made it! This is an understatement because searching for some of the recommended reading material among my books, I noticed that I bought and read Daniel Reid’s book in 1993.

My wife and I have two boys (age 5 and 8) and are living in Japan where I work in international relations. My work is all about handling government and business relations and event management.

I love working with people in an international context and trying to solve complex situations. Downside to that job is that family and free time are limited. It also involves a lot of business luncheons and receptions. Giving the organs a 7 day break makes a lot of sense to me!

My wife and I have some experience with “fasts”. Many years ago we both did a 10 day-only-brown-rice diet. We keep away from drugs (medication) as much as possible as well as fast food and soft drinks without going fanatic about food issues.

Before this I had a far less exciting job that recently got a lot of bad press. I was an auditor. Downside to that job, I never had time to finish explaining what I was doing before the other person was sound asleep! But the plus side to it was, that it gave me a lot of free time to practice martial arts.

I started practicing martial arts 20 years ago. At that time I was overweight and suffered from asthma. I was a pipe and cigar smoker and anything more physical than lifting up a glass of beer or a book was beyond me. Whenever the season changed I caught a cold.

I had read that breathing techniques were an important element in martial arts. I can’t say that this solved all my health issues but my health and quality of life definitely improved.

I am sure that the cleansing program will be another big step (or a staircase perhaps) for myself and for my family. Not only physically but also in a more spiritual way. Taking less and giving more. .

August 2001 I had an ACL-replacement (knee)operation. Because of a heavy workload in Tokio and Osaka there was not enough time for serious rehab. As a result of this I gained 15kgs/33 lbs. From January 2002, I could start my rehabilitation program seriously. I lost my extra weight by reducing my input (no meals in the evening) and increasing my output (3 training sessions /week). Last week I could get back to the dojo again. That felt really good!

I am ready for my first cleanse. Thanks to you all for your testimonials! Excellent service by the recommended vendors even in far away Japan. Thanks Joshua!

Dirk,

Glad you found the site. Since October lots of changes have taken place for you I'm sure, and for the group location and evolution. I finished my cleanse in January. Looking forward to your posts and input on the site.

Hi Dirk,

Welcome. I'll bet it is exciting living in Japan and getting to expose your children to the culture. That is cool.

My dh tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL several years ago. I can imagine what you went through as far as knee pain. It is a long road back to recovery. I know this program will be good for you. Besides losing weight, which I think most of us have, we have also lost a lot of other baggage that we did not need to be carrying around. This will be such a learning experience for you and your family.

I'm glad you found this group.

Love,
Tisha

Sounds like you have had a lot of experience in body work, with growing awareness of what you put into your body and how you treat it, has a direct relationship to how your body feels, looks and responds. It's amazing how few people get that concept. I hope you find continued health and healing. Welcome to the group. Looking forward to your progress.
Sincerely, Kay M

Dirk,

Welcome to Level 2 which for me was very different from the first cleanse. We'll be here to cheer you on and help you on that staircase as you need it.
