Hello All,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 26 year old 3rd year medical student. I've been interested in medicine all of my life and aspire to blend current medicine with alternative practices. Like a female version of Dr. Chopra and Dr. Weill I guess. Anyway, I've been interested in cleansing and fasting for a number of years having completed a number of fasts over the last few years. I lately have been overtired, overstressed, and overweight. So I am looking forward to a fresh start and to treating my body as I need to in order to keep up with the demands of my life. (I was at the hosital 88 hours this week!- It's insane how many hours they are allowed to work us.) Recently I have develped bad GERD. I have a number of different theories on why I have it but basically I just want to cure myself from it. Other than that I like to think I am healthy most of the time. I've been toying with the whole RAW food diet for the past 6 months or so but haven't commited to it 100%- not sure if it's too austere. Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. I look forward to being in touch with everyone!
Take care all and good night,
Alicia ;)

Alicia, welcome to HPS - Boy does our society need more help with the direction Weill and Chopra are taking. I’ve been thinking somebody has got to break the stranglehold that Western medicine has on planet Earth—maybe you can do it! It will take someone working with Western credentials.

Your experience with the modalities of HPS, combined with the education you are getting would make you a very unique individual, indeed.

Alicia,

Great to have you aboard. I'm sure that if you keep an open mind and heart you will find what you are looking for here.

And I have to agree with you, it's outrageous how much you are worked. . . .88 hours in one week! I'm not sure how you found time to find this webstie!

I hope that you will have some time to really relax and take care of yourself while you're here with us!

Best Wishes,
Michael

Hi there Alicia,

How wonderful that you have found yourself here, given your aspirations for becoming a doctor and your interest and understanding the power of combining other approaches with Western medicine - fantastic!!

and there is nothing like experiencing all this healing, this powerful path, first hand!!

I don't know what GERD is...but I am sure your health considerations will be addressed - stress included (88 hours - outrageous!)

best wishes,

Belinda

Hi Alicia,

Lovely to see a medical professional with an open mind towards alternative therapies. Indeed hope that you'll be one of the many to come to help turn "alternative" into "mainstream". You'll have the knowledge and the credentials to do it. Have fun in your cleanse.

Thanks for the welcome. It is really nice to hear from everyone and I appreciate the support. BTW... GERD just stands for gastroesphageal reflux disease... basically I reflux everything I eat. I've been miserable for the past 6 months.. I can't digest anything- It just all comes back up. I feel like I'm just not digesting anything and that it instead it is staying as undigested waste and ending up as toxins that have deposited themselves on my body. Not fun at all. Looking to an end in sight.
love to all,
ALicia

Hi Alicia. A warm welcome to this group. It's just fantastic that we have a med student among us now. What this world needs is more western M.D.s open to eastern modalities who use a wholistic approach in their practices.

My husband suffers with GERD. I'm confident that you'll find following this program that it will become a thing of the past for you, and the insight you gain through this program will help you immensely in your future practice.

I hope you can get some REST along the way!

Cheers!

Hi Alicia,

Welcome to HPS, and congratulations on taking this step toward better health.
I commend you, especially since most of those heading toward medicine will not even open their minds to the truth - good for you! Both worlds have great things to offer. Are you seeing lots of others going into medicine that are gearing toward the natural side like you? We certainly need more medical professionals like you coming into the field.
I'm totally confident Alicia that you will find everything you need here at HPS to guide you toward optimal health. Between the education, guidance, and support, no other program even comes close. I've done many fasts and cleanses myself before happening across HPS in June, and I can say that this is tops.
Good luck Alicia with getting started here. Sounds like you will really need to be focused to balance it all, but we know you can do it! Looking forward to following your progress with us.

Welcome to community Alicia,

First time we have a med student.. nurses and doctors yes, but no med student yet.

Two things are most important if you want to really learn and take all you learn and share it with others.

1) You'll need to practice on your own body and that happens here, BUT you must make it a point, especially in light of being a med student, to read, and practice and do the program according to the instructions. You must follow the program to the dot, and that might be confusing for you because a lot of what you will learn is (unfortunately) not taught in medical school.

Food is medicine. I look forward to you sharing your knowledge, insights and practices here with all of us in light of the pgoram.

2) you must be prepared to be very flexible and open minded... on the one hand you are getting bombarded with info from the med school, and on the other hand you will be experiencing a reality of health that they don't know about... and that will be very confusing for you... Stay open minded and fuse the best from both worlds, and that will make you a doctor of the doctors.

Wishing you all the best.

Peace,
Love and light,

Your cleansing friend, jos-hua

Alicia,

Read up on food combining and the GERD may go away really fast. It's quite simple.

Alicia,

I'm a newbie here but welcome anyway. It's going to be very interesting, with your medical background and all, to hear later on about what you think of the cleanse.

May you have a discovering journey,
