Greetings Everyone,
I am very excited about this program. I remember when I discovered it online.
It was clearly a case of "when the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear."
I'm originally from north "Jersey", but relocated to Los Angeles in 2000.
While I'm consciously "aware", I've been without the discipline it takes
to live what I know to be true. The one and only time I had colonics was
25 yrs. ago. That was like test driving a car without a driver's license.
Since then it went downhill with the nutritional abuse. There were short attempts at cleaning up my act, but they never seemed to last.
Now, I'm stuck with a smoking habit I want to get rid of, and carb cravings
that attack like vampires.
I've had the pleasure of receiving Daniel Reids book, and I'm absorbing it
like a sponge.
I am very excited to receive the thoughts and suggestions of everyone.
It's good to know there are others on this roller coaster ride.
I will do my best to "share with" and support all of you.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Rick

Hi Rick,
Welcome aboard!!! You are going to find this program very informative and to your liking. I was exactly your age when I started and happy to say after 2 years of cleansing, this program has delivered on all fronts and then some.
As you travel the path, certain aspects of your health will start to reveal itself. Some of it obviously, others that you weren't even aware and that is what makes this program so unique in the discover of self health care.
I wish you the very best as you join us here, and I know you will start to feel the same excitement that we all have felt as you begin your pre cleanse....
Take care,

Welcome to HPS, Rick
Yes, there is a lot to be excited about - it works!
I, like you, had my last colonic a long time ago before starting HPS - 35 years before, and got away from self ministering my health.
I feel great getting back into the “health zone.”
Yes, Dan’s book is great. I started rereading it for the 3rd time last week.

Greetings Rick,
I guess like most of our 50 + year old cleansers, one of the first things that is going to hit you about this program is how is it and why is it that everything taught and done here wasn't and isn't being taught to people in their early twenties... a month or two from now, you are going to look back and be thinking, boy, if i had started this 10, 15 or 20 years ago my whole life would have been easier and better.
But, no need really to look back, because it's even more exciting to think where you were headed before you started cleansing here at HPS and where you are headed now the next twenty years... as your friends and mates health slowly degenerates yours on the other hand is going to keep getting better year in and year out as you age... just follow the program, take things step by step and stay active here at our community... staying active here will keep you on the path... it's not a question of how fast we turn the wheel, but rather one that we keep it turning... staying on the path is a lot more important than acquiring knowledge or skills at the early stages of this journey.
I wish you all the best, peaceful, productive cleansing and renewal... Rejuvenation is such a wonderful gift to be able to give oneself... and to be totally in control of it, well, it doesn't get better than that.
Drop all your anxiety and have fun here... hps cleansing is supposed to be fun.
Peace, love and light,
Richard_D

Hi Rick,
Welcome to the group. Your excitement is well-founded and bound to deepen as you spend more time learning about and doing all these new things. There is so much to discover, but of course you've already done the most important thing: you've made a start.
Well begun.

Greg
Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to your Level 1 experience.
Jos-hua,
I appreciate the re-assurance. It comes right on time. Also, thanks for reminding me to have fun with the program. I've been a little too consumed with the "withdrawal effects" I think I'm going to experience.
Richard,
Hi, and thanks for your input. I recall a saying in my business that "90% of getting the job is showing up."
Thanks guys,
Rick

Rick,
I had a Buddhist teacher who made me understand that it's important to clear your addictions in this life before you die. If not, you can end up in the bardo without a body, suffering from the desire of your addictions -- with no way to satisfy them. The thought was pretty compelling, but I didn't have an idea how to get rid of the addictions until I read The Seat of the Soul (http://www.hpscleansing.com/group/showthread.php?p=23412#post23412) by Gary Zukov.
I hope your first cleanse will be an opportunity to give up smoking -- it is a great opportunity. I wish I'd been on this program when I quit smoking about 25 years ago. Maybe it wouldn't have taken me three years and so much misery to do it.
Good luck with your cleanse!

Hi Rick,
welcome to HPS from Australia. I remember my excitement when I signed on...sensing the possibilities of what is offered here, I hear that loud and clear from you too - you won't be dissapointed.
Have a great level 1 and enjoy the orientation of the pre- weeks.
(Louise what a great thing your teacher said!)

of the planet.
The pre weeks have been interesting and filled with anticipation.
I look forward to your input and support when I get into my

Hi Rick- (I'm just outside of Philly)
"It was clearly a case of "when the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear.""
This is exactly how I felt when I stumbled upon the website.
I haven't checked the calendar. When do you start your pre-cleanse? I want to follow your progress. I stopped smoking a few times and kept going back. I stopped smoking again when I started my pre-cleanse. So far so good. No smokes.
Actually, I thought more about food during my formal than cigs. In fact I didn't crave or think about having a butt during my whole formal. It may not be easy, but you'll feel soooo much better once you kick THAT habit.
Good luck and Peace,
Laura _G
Louise, what your Buddhist teacher said: I found it profound.

Hey Laura,
Thanks for your interest.
My pre cleanse starts Monday the 13th.
I noticed something today: I discovered I was out of cigarettes and I also
had a wave of hunger (feeling like I can get my last licks in with food)
so I went to the store and picked up some naughty starch's.
When I got back home I realized that I forgot to buy cigarettes.
So, clearly I'm more concerned about the food issue. Now, of course,
I'm dissapointed I went for the food.
But, I am resolute to follow the Netwonder guides come time to pre cleanse.
Hope your feeling well,
Rick

Rick,
I think you've come to the right place to rid yourself of these addictions and to start taking responsibility for your health.
I can relate to your "addiction" to starches. That was the hardest part of my cleanse, but well worth it. I found out that it was all mental and that once I mentally chose not to let them control my life, it was easier.
You'll do great here and you'll see some great results!
Best Wishes,
Michael

Hey Michael,
I hope you're right, and I'm looking forward to finding out.
This pre cleanse week has proved to be a little tough on the sugar(carb) cravings.
Thanks for the support.

Hi Rick,
By age and sign-up date it looks like I'm right behind you on the path to health and rejuvenation. I can say a big ditto to your statement "I've been without the discipline it takes to live what I know to be true." That's why I am so grateful for HPS - it provides a path of discipline to achieve proven results. It is so easy to take the path of least resistance and "the easy way out" to avoid the demands of discipline. I guess that is why so many people don't choose discipline. Reminds me of the biblical statement: "the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few."
I support you in your choice of discipline to make changes and am encouraged to have a "50's" fellow cleanser on the path just ahead of me. I will be learning from your cleanses even as we are learning from those who have walked the road ahead of us.
Love and courage,
Ronald_H
