At age 55, I have a personal history that includes a variety of joys and sorrows: a college degree in religion that included a year of study in Marburg, Germany; three years of teaching and service in East Africa; a family life with two awesome sons; personal bankruptcy followed by divorce and remarriage; and then earlier this year the loss of my youngest son by suicide.
My remarriage was to a woman who has become my absolute best friend and confidant. Her support is making it possible for me to take a "job sabbatical" in order to refocus my life and work around my core values and commitments. HPS will be a tool to help in the refocusing. For 25 years I have worked in various manufacturing companies holding positions in customer service, inside sales, production control & scheduling, and purchasing. Also during that time I pursued several entrepreneurial ventures, one of which resulted in the bankruptcy filing.
In my early adult years my health and nutrition knowledge focused on natural food supplements as a compensation for deficiencies in our American food chain and diet. Recently my step-daughter worked two summers on an organic vegetable farm in Oregon and we had the opportunity to sample "real food". On a visit to see her I had the experience of eating a fresh, raw turnip right out of the ground. It was a "taste bud explosion" and I was hooked. We now buy only organic produce, have eliminated dairy and reduced our red meat consumption to almost nil.
As we learned about various alternative health therapies, we came across information about the importance of proper food combining for colon and bowel health. The colon health issue led us to HPS about two years ago, but at that point the program seemed too expensive and time consuming for our perceived need.
Why HPS for me now? Several reasons, but the two most important are credibility and scope.
Credibility: The amount of free emailed information we received about the program and colon health was almost overwhelming. BUT IT WASN'T JUST SALES HYPE!! It was solid factual information. The forums then provided valid "testimonials" which could actually be checked out. I still have an answer to an email I sent to Pat_W in February of 2003. HPS is a serious health program for the long term, not just another place to spend some money and hope you get something of value.
Scope: My main health need is to be able to breath freely and clearly. I have had sinus conjestion and "allergies" as long as I can remember. Beyond that, I want to build complete physical health and that takes more than popping pills. It means learning how this incredible body works and maintaining it as faithfully as I would any precision man-made tool or instrument. However, perhaps even more important than physical health is the person I will become by doing the full HPS program - all four levels. I expect HPS will help me focus and get a handle on the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of my being as well. This program emphasizes action not just head knowledge, and I desperately need discipline to take action. As the 7DW set-up manual states: If you don't practice, nothing happens....those who practice see results. They see renewal, rejuvenation, and transformation." That's what I'm after: renewal, rejuvenation and transformation!
