Hi!
My name is Andrew, and I'm starting the journey to better health. I apologize for not getting this introduction posted earlier.

I am 20 years old, in my second year of college. I will transfer to Michigan State University in fall 2006. My major is bioengineering, because I'm interested in how the human body, and all organic things are put together. Also, I'd like to research DNA, and how it could be tweaked to cure birth defects, burn victims, missing body parts, and so on by forcing it to regenerate. Becuase hey, almost all other ailments can be cured by leading a healthy lifestyle.

As for my family, my parents are divorced, and have both remarried. I like both my stepparents. But it's wierd going between the two houses, which are only 15 minutes away from each other, because my mother is a Christian, and my father is atheist. So I have a rather varied range of family values. I have one younger sister, who is 18 and currently incarcerated. I love her to death, but she makes some bad decisions sometimes. A little dog and cat wrap up the list.

Ever since I started getting dry skin 4 years ago, I started paying more attention to what my mom said about healthy eating. I tried eating more whole grains and natural foods, but obviously never enough, because up until recently it'd been getting progressively worse, with terrible flaky, itchy, irritated skin and baggy eyes, to the point where i would try anything to stop it. That's when I happened upon HPS website.

The website had everything I'd ever learned about becoming and staying healthy, the natural way, and had put it all together into a seven day program! I was interested, but I was in Japan at the time, on my year long work-study program, and couldn't do it. Instead, I tried just a 7 day fast with just water (rough times), then started trying to eat lots of salad and combine foods properly. I had more energy, but it did nothing for the conditions that I wanted fixed.

So I became convinced that only by putting it all together, via this program, with the colon cleansing, could I cure my skin problems. Because otherwise, I'm just a normal, happy, energetic kid. But my skin problems make me look a coke addict, and I could hardly even convince the Japanese that I was only 19. They all thought "late 20s". So that always got me down. I always feel so healthy and energetic, why the heck don't I look that way?!

I have time for two cleanses before I head back to Japan in May (2005). I hope I look so different they can hardly recognize me. I hope that I've got healthy moist skin, healthy moist eyes with pure white whites and no circles under them, and healthy shiny wavy hair. The things that all healthy young people have. I want to never have to use deodarant again, never smear petroleum jelly on my face again, stop going to the sink all the time to moisten dry spots on my skin, stop scratching at my scalp every few minutes, and having dead skin flakes all over my shirts and anything I lay my head against...

The list goes on, but I've already named enough embarrassing things that I want to cure. And I don't want to give the impression that I'm miserable, cause I'm not. I love life so much, especially now that I'm starting to fulfill my goals of visiting other countries and becoming multi-lingual. Having spent a year in Japan, with another 6 months in the works for this summer/fall, my spring break trip to Venezuala, and correspondence with a friend in Thailand whom I met in Japan and might be able to go visit in Bangkok this coming December, I'm happy as a hedgehog. But honestly, I reeally want to wake up one of these days with pillow marks on my face. Because only moist skin gets pillow marks.

I look forward greatly to the following weeks and months, and years of ever improving health. I look forward to corresponding with you guys, my fellow HPS cleansers. The future is bright.

makoto ni,
Andrew_K

Andrew,

Great to have you here, part of this program. You will find what you are looking for here, but it won't happen instantly. It is a lifestyle and a great one at that.

This is a great learning experience and I hope you enjoy it.

Best Wishes,
Michael

Lovely intro, Andrew. Welcome to the program.
You sure have a full plate, and it is inspiring to see your energy.

You obviously already have a good foundation in healthy living, so you are most definitely at the right place for guidance and support on the path to achieve better health.

Thailand, Japan, Venezuela - sounds like so much fun !!! Safe travels.

Wish you lots of pillow marks !!

Welcome to HPS, Andrew
What you are doing will definitely help the skin. In the meantime you might enjoy trying sesame oil massage on yourself. The skin really absorbs sesame and it doesn’t clog up your skin or slow down detox like some moisturizers would.

I’ve had stretches of time where I did it almost every day, in the bathtub for five or ten minutes before showering. Then I would avoid using too much soap, if any, so that the oil would be allowed to absorb into the skin during the morning.

It was and is a wonderful experience — enhanced even more if you include your head in the treatment.

Hi Andrew,

Love your zest for life. Tokyo is a fun place to be, especially when one young. You have very clear goals and objectives for the cleanse. However, do remember what Jos-hua said about no finish line, no expectations. The health problem we face is the result of long term mis-handling, so it will take equal efforts to get it back on track. I wish you great improvement of your skin after the cleanse.

Weclome Andrew!

You do sound to be bursting with life and energy ... dreams and goals. Your problems may really be a gift for you for seldom do I hear people so young and so committed to managing their own health (except of course on this board!) Your problems may be the very motivating factor that makes you able to live as well and as long as you want.

I don't know if your going to have all your ills clear in 2 fasts -- I tend to doubt it. But I agree that what was missing was putting it all together. That is something you will learn here, and be able to take with you wherever you go.

Good luck with the program.

Love and light,

David

Greetings Andrew!

It's great to read about another engineer (or future engineer) working hard at something other than number-crunching and problem-solving!

And do not for an instant feel that you are sharing "embarrassing things" with fellow cleansers! We all have problems with our bodies--nobody's perfect! In fact, I know you're not alone with an "embarrassing" ailment that led you here as I have my own.

I do wish you the best in your goals and dreams and hope to support you in your up-and-coming cleanses!

Cheers!

Hi Andrew,

I'll throw my welcome in here as well. This is definitely the place to get those issues you talk about under control. I, too, have had skin problems in my life: major acne for one thing; flaky scalp, for another thing. Who would have thought back then that cleansing and detoxifying would clear things up? Well, as I sit here, I just scratched my head to see if any flakes would fall out, and not a one do I see. A year ago, there would have been major flaking, especially in the dry northeast winters.

Looking forward to how it all works out for you.

Andrew,

Just came by to comment after reading through your formal cleanse thread. I now understand why getting rid of your four pounds of crap every day is so significant.

I am on the same page regarding getting to HPS. I had learned and started practicing bits and pieces of what is all put together here, so when I found the whole package and and a break in life's whirlwind, it was a big Yee-Haa!

Really awesome that you are getting all this under your belt at such an early age. It will reeeaally give you a major health platform for all the world traveling and cross cultural events you have on your agenda. All that traveling should make diet choices more interesting as well.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride and your fellow traveling companions.

Ron
