Hello all.

As you can see, I'm a law student living in Virginia. I'm finishing up my third year of school and will begin studying for the bar exam in a few months. After that I will begin working at a law firm in Houston, Texas.

My main reason for starting this process is to reduce or eliminate my IBS (Irritable Bowel Sydrome - essentially the medical name for having a messed up colon) and work towards achieving a healthy lifestyle that I can continue in the years ahead.

I have many hobbies and interests, including cooking, reading, and watching movies, among others. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone a bit better.

I am hoping to begin my formal cleanse within 16-20 days from today and will (of course) appreciate any guidance and advice given both before, during, and after that period.

Wishing you a healthy and happy start to the new year,
Mark

Although I went to the College of W&M and am obligated to despise anyone from Charlottesville, nonetheless ... wishing you great success in your experience here!!

This program is a FANTASTIC way to deal with IBS. It may not happen in the first cleanse but I have little doubt it will come. From there you have the option to move on to dealing with more subtle health concerns.

Since you ask for advice...here's a few mistakes that I made in my Level 1 that are better to avoid.

1) It's hard to stay energetic on the pre-cleanse diet, although it is important to follow it. I would suggest eating brown rice with olive oil and some cooked vegetables at least once a day to keep up with your caloric demands.
2) Get as much rest as you can, and stay as warm as you can during the cleanse. The less energy you spend on needless activities and body heat, the more you have left to aid the process.
3) Plan out all the details (massage, steam, etc.) and buy your water in advance. Practice juicing. You will have less mental energy than normal especially once you get into the full cleanse.

Best of luck to you, Mark. Hope the IBS is dealt with effectively.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to HPS. That is a good one about IBS ("a messed up colon"). There are more acronyms out there now for every health condition that it is laughable. This is the place to find out the real causes of bowel conditions instead of taking guesses. Follow the program and your issues will be a thing of the past. Best of luck to you.

Hello and welcome, Mark.
Matthew's tips are perfect, i also hope you have figured out the time off from your schedule during the 7-day formal. You will soon be receiving all the information you need from NetW, and we are always here to clarify anything. Additionally, the Level-1 formal forums are a great place to start reading up on actual experiences of beginning cleansers.
Good luck, this is an exciting venture. Looking forward to following your cleanse.
:)

Welcome Mark,

My mother-in-law is also "suffering" from IBS. She is too old to have a cleanse to correct it and looking at their diet (mainly ham and white bread roll, few pieces of salad veg), I'm not surprised. They are too set in their way to listen to any of my suggestions learnt from HPS. So I don't force myself on her. But you're so blessed to be dealing it in the right way at such a young age. It is such a good tool to have for prolonged health. See you around and you can be rest assured lots of help is available in this forum. Just shout.

Hi Mark,

Good move in coming to HPS! This is the place to build your health no matter what your starting point. In addition to Mathew's suggestions I would add to be sure to read through the NW lessons within a day of their arrival. Even though they may be pointing to something that seems a week away, there are often little projects that you need to start on before that time and if you wait to the last minute to read them you will be too late to do it. You will be amazed at the impact this program will have on your life. I can't imagine trying to work at vibrant health without it. Welcome and enjoy the group. It will be fun!

Hi Mark - it is great to welcome you to our little community. We are all seeking vibrant health and wellness - this is such a fantastic foundation. One of the main causes of all health problems deals with the colon - clean it out and heaps of problems disappear -as long as you change your lifesytle to follow suit and not "refill' the colon with junk.

The colon actually touches ALL the major organs, having it full of toxins and crap that just oozes out to other organs------enough said!! :):) You have chosen well, and at your age you will learn enough to have a healthy life, heaps of fun and energy and enjoy great food along the way. Good on ya mate.

We are all here for you and will enjoy learning alongside you and enjoying your journey as well.

love and kindness,
Maz

Welcome! I never knew what IBS really meant but how you put it (messed up colon)...well that cleared it up. After finishing your 7DW I think that you will be happy with the results and will want to continue with the other levels. Remember to take it easy and be mindful of what you do before, during and after.
I'll be rooting for you!!!!

Best of luck to ya!

Love,
