Warm greetings to all!
Gyroplanes…that’s the reason I am here…because of my interest in flying gyroplanes. Sounds surprising, doesn’t it? Let me explain.
I finally acted upon my long-time fascination with rotorcraft by attending an international convention, in Indiana, last summer. After that trip, I decided to build and fly a gyro. I was soon faced with a new problem. As fate would have it, my present weight is more than the typical gyro can carry.
In my search for information to develop a weight loss plan, I recalled what Count Rugen, a character from the movie The Princess Bride, had said. “Get some rest. If you haven’t got your health, you haven’t got anything.”
The rest is history. I discovered the Helping People Survive web site and have put worldly aspirations on hold. I finally obeyed my conscience and realized…only if I have my health, will I enjoy a quality life and be able to pursue life-long ambitions!
I was born in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, in the 1950’s. I am the oldest of seven children. I lived in the Deep South until moving to San Diego, California in 1960.
I am a “Jack of all trades”, master of some. I have worked in all phases of building construction. Growing up, we built our home and what evolved to be a 66 unit motel, in downtown San Diego, complete with pool and restaurant. I lived seven blocks from the main drag on Broadway, and seven blocks from the harbor. I grew up in this large city, but my heart has always been in the countryside!
I graduated from San Diego High School in 1973. I attended the University of California in San Diego, that summer, but then decided to change my sheltered life by joining the United States Air Force. My primary job was electronics related; maintaining telephone exchanges. The Air Force, at the time, was a safe place to grow up.
My tour of duty was four years. What an adventure! During my service, I traveled to Texas, Okinawa, Iceland, Illinois, Missouri, Washington D.C., Maine, and was finally stationed in central New York State.
I moved to Bangor, Maine in 1985, in pursuit of a job and enjoyed my three year visit very much! It was in Maine that I learned, through friends, the Transcendental Meditation relaxation technique.
I’ve since returned to college, have worked as a handyman, installed telephone business systems, and have performed consumer electronics repair. I worked at Cornell University, for four years, with computers and computer network infrastructure.
I presently live in the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York amongst 90+ wineries! I find the balance of open fields and deciduous trees in this area very attractive! As you can imagine, the vineyards are very picturesque; the lake views calming.
I currently work at a small, private college providing Classroom Technology Support. I help provide assistance to faculty in 200 classrooms with computers, and various audio/video devices, from 7:30 AM until 9:35 PM. We also provide electronic repair and video conferencing services.
I have fifteen wonderful students, from all over the world, that work with me to accomplish this monumental task. I work with students whose home is India, Bangladesh, Romania, Bulgaria, Cypress, Mauritius, Myanmar, and Brazil. What a treat! Working with students is the most rewarding facet of my job!
In spite of my demanding job, I am a happy-go-lucky person. You will most likely hear me, before you see me, because I am usually singing, humming or whistling my way through the day.
If I ever realized I would have to live on a uninhabited island the rest of my life, and fooled into thinking I could bring only one type of music, the romantic in me would choose Old School Rythym and Blues. I do enjoy almost all forms of music, although I listen contemporary jazz, new age, classic rock, and latin music on a regular basis.
I love to travel! I am not a world explorer by any means, although I have been fortunate to visit Mexico, Canada, Iceland, Okinawa, and Guam. I almost made it to Brunei, in 1994, to help construct a stadium for the Sultan. I have also visited, all but five, of these fifty United States. In fact, I have 7,500 driving miles in Alaska; thus far my favorite wilderness location on this deep blue planet!
Despite my “lofty” pursuits, I am an earthy guy and live in the physical world. I have enjoyed hiking in the wilderness, rock and ice climbing, kayaking, canoeing, camping, caving, and cycling. I also enjoy electronics, computers, and RC modeling. I love anything mechanical, whether I’m working on my vehicle, lawn mower, snow blower, or someone else’s.
I met the love of my life, as a friend, nine years ago; we began seeing each other three years ago. Her name is Laurie. She is the first woman I’ve met that I look forward to growing old with. She is a true sweetheart, and doesn’t "just act like one" every once in a while. We share the same interests, life-long aspirations and often the very same thoughts! Laurie has a son named Scott, who is attending college and working towards a Sports Medicine degree. He is a "fine young man".
I’ve been blessed with a strong constitution. Except for a broken arm, a hernia operation and a herniated disk in my spine, I have been practically doctor-free.
In recent months, however, I have had the following symptoms: constipation, chronic joint pain, dry skin, a scalp rash, high blood pressure, blood circulation problems in my legs and impotency. I recently discovered, through the loving guidance of Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D., that these are symptoms of my body's many cries for water. By drinking nothing more than pure water (half my body weight in ounces per day), with the addition of unprocessed sea salt, ALL of the above symptoms have completely disappeared within three months! The only change made to my diet was to practice not drinking coffee and soda.
Lesson learned: Pure water, balanced with the right amount of unprocessed sea salt, has marvelous healing properties and should never be taken for granted!
Speaking of diets…I have eaten the Standard American Diet most of my life. Yes. I have gone through different phases of creating health by meditating, and have lived the Macrobiotic lifestyle for a couple of years, in an effort to ward of any impending health issues. I then fell back to the SAD and am paying the price.
I have salt and water fasted, for six days at a time, and found it refreshing! I have strong will power and found the experience curiously easy. I enjoyed the focus of body and mind.
People say that I’m a generous person. I live to serve others! I believed that I had bestowed many fine gifts in my lifetime. That is, until I found the Helping People Survive program. After reading the online cleansing guide, I realized that I have never really given any gifts of value. I have come to realize the only true gift, is that of helping others to regain and maintain their health and well being. I now know the gifts of health, which Jos-hua offers with loving guidance, are priceless! I knocked on his door, looking for weight loss, and he welcomed me into the world of all encompassing health!
I look forward to much better health, connecting with my body, growing as a person, and helping others that are walking this same path. I am also very excited about meeting new, health conscious friends from across this planet! Hopefully, by sharing a brief description of my life thus far, we have connected in some small way.
I wish you all…love, abundant health, and happiness!
Your new cleansing friend,
William
