Hi, my name is Megan, I'm a single, 35 year old pharmacist, and I just ordered all my books, herbals, and supplies, but I haven't set aside a start date yet. I'm hoping to be able to take a week vacation, because I'm overdue for one!!

I am basically in good health, up until recently. I have had progressively worsening allergies for a few years now, and in the past 6 months I have had at least 5 sinus infections. I can't seem to get well for more than a couple weeks. I am getting very frustrated and discouraged with traditional medicine. And as you can see by my profession, I see all the bad things that those pills do to people!

I have also noticed an increase in fatigue and lethargy, decreased concentration and mental capacity, and recurrent mild acne. I'm too young to be getting old!!

I can't wait to start the program, because I'm SICK of being SICK.

You all seem so kind and encouraging, I'm looking forward to learning from your experiences, and sharing my own.

Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction.

Hi Megan,

Welcome to HPS cleansing and to our community. I say community because it isn't dependent on any one person, it is dependent on all of us.

I'm pretty confident that already after your first cleanse you are going to see some pretty dramatic improvement... so much so, that you might end up rethinking your profession.

Once you step out of the boxes (the pills and medications boxes) you will not want to get back in, and you probably will feel some distress shuffling out pills to others. Anyway, take it one step at a time and enjoy your cleansing. I'm sure you will see fantastic benefit.

Please follow the program to the dot, participate actively here in the forums and all will be well.

Wishing you all the best,

Hi Megan,

Welcome to the world of HPS, a new direction in your health and outlook on life as you see it now. It will be interesting how your profession will be effected as Jos-hua made mention to. Megan be Be patient and allow others to gently direct you to newer paths and allow those sinus problems to be non- existant.

Sincerly, Mark

Thank you, Jos-hua and Mark, for your replies. I have long been questioning the use of many of the medications I dispense, and you can often find me counselling patients on healthier, alternative, often just common sense choices.

I would love to work in an environment that supported healthy choices for people, while still allowing me to use my knowledge of physiology and body systems.

Does such a place exist?

I'm sure you'll find it if you are searching for it.

Welcome Megan,

Since you haven't set a date yet, i would like suggest that you earnestly look into Jos-hua's suggestions with regards to taking time off work. I know you might raise some eyebrows when you ask for 5 weekdays off when there's really nothing wrong with you, but it's a fact that the less you exert yourself during the 7 days (physically AND mentally), the more benefits you will see from your cleanse. I am going to pay more attention to this aspect in my level-2.

I am confident that cleansing will help alleviate your sinus problems and allergies, and more.
Looking forward to your cleanse.

Megan,

Welcome to HPS. You have made a significant move and decision with regards to your personal health. There is a lot of information here to be digested but then what better endeavor could we spend effort on than our own health?

Hurrah for your decision. With your professional involvement it truly shows you know how to think for yourself. You will without a doubt find much to process in the HPS materials. Take your time, savor every bit (like a delicious meal) and take it one day at a time. This is not quick fix process, but changes come without fail as we practice.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and support. With regard to my professional knowledge, everything I have read at this site so far complements, rather than contradicts, my knowledge of body systems. It is refreshing to be told why we are doing something, especially when it makes sense with what we already know. So many fad programs out there just don't make sense like this does.

I am requesting the time off for my cleanse. We'll see if I get it! I may have to work for one or two days during the 7-day period. I'm shooting for May 1st, which I have put on the calendar. If no time or limited time off is available, I may have to bump it up to April 29th. Everyone cross your fingers for me!

Hello again, I just remembered to post a question that has been weighing on my mind...

Except for the homemakers and work-from-home folks, HOW DO PEOPLE MANAGE TO TAKE ONE WEEK OFF EVERY 3 MONTHS FOR AN ACTIVE CLEANSE??

My benefits do include 4 weeks vacation from work, but I would also like to take some of that time off to ACTUALLY vacation!!

Any suggestions?

Welcome Megan!

I love to converse with people from all over this world, but it's nice to have another New Yorker join the community!

Ah...sinus problems. I can tell you stories! It took me years to learn what caused my sinus congestion...milk and soy products. I learned when I have congestion, not to blow my nose until there is no more mucus left in my sinuses. I learned to blow only what was in my nasal passage. This prevented lots of headaches!

I've learned that my sinuses will dry out while breathing dry air. Winter time is a conscious challenge to keep my sinuses moist. I've become a mouth breather in the winter. I've also come to find out that a dry sinus headache won't be effected much by medication short of Darvocet (sp?), and then it only touches the edges. Dry sinuses haven't much blood circulation to pass the medication.

The worst experience I ever had was when I chose to use some decongestion medication prior to a cross country flight. When the cabin decompressed upon landing, the blood in my temples seemed to boil! I was in excruciating pain!

At one point in time, before learning these lessons, I would wet a wash cloth and put it in the freezer until it was rock hard. I would then place it on my forehead to numb the pain. Those were rough times!

I have never used decongestants since. I learned to sniff salt water instead. I literally breath warm salt water up into my sinuses, bend over and roll my head back and forth to distribute the saline solution and let it drain out. I do this three times. I usually experienced immediate relief, but I would lay down for fifteen minutes and the worst dry sinus headache would be gone!

We all come to HPS for specific reasons, for me it was weight loss, but as you will soon find out, healings will happen on many different levels. For both conscious and unconscious symptoms.

I, too, felt I was fairly healthy, until I watched all these symptoms disappear that I took for granted as part of every day life. Now I realize it wasn't natural to feel that way!

You are too young to be getting old! Unfortunately, the typical american diet does not promote health. It taxes our bodies until it starts to fail. The most amazing information I've discovered is that diet alone can cure any ailment! Contrarily, an unhealthy diet will slowly make you ill.

Holistic medicine, alternative medicine and natural remedies, might just be the ticket for your desire to help people in a responsible way. Your knowledge of phisiology will be of value and you will have the chance to learn healthy methods of treatment.

Participating in HPS is a refreshing experience! The guidelines you will be asked to follow are a result of Jos-hua's own experiences. Strange as it may sound, don't have expectations. Just observe the changes that take place.

Vacations are supposed to be a time for rest and relaxation; rejuvenating the body. What better way to treat yourself, than cleanisng and the benefits it brings? This year my vacation time is dedicated for cleansing. Having already experienced the wonderful benefits, I can't think of a better way to spend my free time. You'll have lots of time to enjoy your life once you are cleansed!

Again, welcome! I wish you the best cleansing experience!

Your cleansing friend,

William

Megan,

Thank you for your words to my introduction. They brought tears to my eyes knowing that my experiences have helped someone else! I also appreciated your encouraging words filled with faith for my future! :)

You have definitely found the right place here at HPS! I wish I had found this place years ago but then I'm not sure that I would have been willing to make the necessary changes to my diet back then. Even if someone had told me that my taste buds would change after the colinamas I'm not sure I would believed them! I was such a pizza, pasta, Mexican food, and casserole junkie I just couldn't believe that I would actually ever desire a salad over my normal foods! Ha!

I look forward to seeing your progression toward better health in the next few months!

May you feel God's deep love and blessing over your life,

Welcome Megan!

It is always exciting to have new people join our community! I'm sure you'll find, if you have not already, there are plenty of caring people here that want to see you get well for no other reason than your own health. It is hard to find people that are so willing to help out with out planning on getting something in return.

With that said, this community is a revolving circle where we all help out each other, even people that just start are encouraged to just stop by and say hi. I know that when I first started I was a little aprehensive to start posting on other cleansers pages because I felt like I had little to offer. but I soon realized that just stopping by to say hi is more than enough! So i hope you feel free to do the same.

I relate to your allergies and sinus problems. That is the exact reason that I saught out HPS. I was taking two claritan a day and my allergies were still raging, now, after my second cleanse, I no long take any claritan or eye drops, it's a beautiful thing!

To answer your question about time off. My own experience is that I've had to work 3-4 days on both cleanses. it isn't easy, but it's do able. Unfortunely I don't have very many vacation days and no sick days, so I can only take a couple days off at a time. I usually take a friday and monday off so I have 4 days off including the weekend. then I work three days. It works out okay. I'm able to manage it. But if you can take off more days I would recomend it.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

Best Wishes,
Michae;
