Hi all,

You have a new cleansing buddy. I'm part of that category of people who currently don't have major health issues (and in my case, never had), but want to be better nevertheless. Read on - I apologize if it is too long.

I now live and work in the Pacific Northwest (USA), but was born and grew in Eastern Europe. I had an organic diet most of my life, because - believe it or not - I had no other choice :). After I moved in the US I tried to avoid the unnatural food (putting hormons into my body ??; tasteless food??), but I often ate processed food from organic ingredients. Oh, my...

When I was a kid, I was normal in weight, but later became obese. After my first year in highschool (15 years in age) I decided that the time has come for me to get rid of my excess weight, so I started my own program - which basically meant eating less and skipping some meals, doing that for a number of months. Basically, I "fought" my own family to do that - I just ignored them when they were pulling back on my old lifestyle (e.g. "finish up your entire portion"). I guess that was the first time I felt that if you really want (to do) something, then you have all you need to succeed! Actually, I need to remember that more often!
After that, I decided that I never want to be fat again, stopped eating sugar; didn't start smoking or drinking coffee (I must have drunken 10-15 coffee cups my entire life).
I also decided to never use medications unless there is an emergency (i.e. not for colds, etc.) - and I meant it! I try to learn and practise new healthy habits whenever possible - threw away my eyeglasses after reading a yoga book on the subject; stopped using shampoo after reading the website of a guy who claimed he gained a fair amount of hair within 10 years of stopping using shampoo (my hair had been constantly (but slowly) falling since my highschool, so ...) I don't know if such issues should be put in my introduction, so I apologize - I'm just doing this to explain my mindset.

Looking back, I didn't do enough physical exercises my entire life, but I'm trying to improve that: I'm doing Tae-Kwon-Do, jogging (sometimes daily, but generally I'm lazy and could skip even two weeks). I intermitenly do some Yoga asanas or breathing exercises, or some streching, but rather rarely.

So, what brings me here:
Earlier this year I had sleep disorder - for sure, because of my lifestyle (long hours at work on the computer, long hours at home on the computer, stealing sleep hours). After a while, even if I would put myself in bed at 10PM, I would fall asleep immediately, wake up after 20 minutes and unable to sleep again until 2-3AM. Fortunately, this is behind - or I hope so.
Like Alan_A (and maybe others), I used to experience daily a fogginess of mind that comes when I’m hungry - I would just need to eat something, anything.
I have cold hands and feet (especially right hand), but also sweaty (even in the same day). If my feet are cold, I cannot sleep until they get warm, and that could take 90 minutes (they are cold as I'm writing). I'm sure my blood circulation could be greatly improved!
My right nasal passage is blocked many times during the day, and my smell sense isn't that great in such moments. I do know that being unable to breath deeply and properly impacts you in major ways, so.... As a matter of fact - this is how I got to HPS - I was looking for some questions on Jala Neti (yogic nasal washing) in a forum and someone mentions mucoid plaque and HPS (BTW - I now do Jala Neti every day and is better).
Finally, I'm low on energy - I'd like to be able to do more, both physically and mentally (and get in touch with my spiritual dimension).

My health problems are rather minor - I looked over many introductions - but they are mine and I want to solve them!

Adrian -

Welcome to the group. This is my first posted reply...I just wanted to say welcome and I'm glad we're starting this journey. It seems like a great program to do for ourselves - regardless of the gravity of our current health 'problems'. I too don't have any serious health issues (which became more apparent after reading some of the other posts). We all want to feel better, healthier and more wholesome and this is a great way to invest in that.

good luck and welcome,

Leigh

Welcome Adrian...

It's good to be thorough in your analysis of your health. Like you said, this way we can understand where you are coming from; and possibly, other people may be able to see things in you they missed in themselves. So thank you for your introduction :)

It seems like our bodies need constant maintenance in today's enviornment so as not to fall apart (physically, mentally, spiritually). Since I just joined as well, I'm excited to work backwards to 'scrach' within this program, right along side you.

Best of success to you man!

Michelle

Welcome to HPS, Adrian.
I can see that you have a mind set to do very well here. You’re already a practitioner! :)

Greetings Adrian,

I'm always amazed when people write "and my health problems are rather minor."

All those things you are talking about above are serious... and they are indicators that if something isn't done soon, the next place your body will take you is into chronic illness, for a lifetime. And with chronic illness comes not only pain, but lots of anxiety, suffering and ascending higher health bills, FOR A LIFETIME.

So, I am happy you are here and welcome you to our community. It's a wonderful group of people here, sincere, honest, intelligent and loving.

I'm confident that the above issues will be gone soon and from there we can start to move into healing and growth, on ALL levels, physical, emotional, mental and even spiritual.

Wishing you all the best.

Peace

those health problems may be minor but not if you look long term, then you see that they are the stepping stones down into disease....just as jos-hua pointed out.

with steady practice you'll get over that fogginess and all of those other annoying ailements;)

get a hold of the reading material as soon as you can, some great things to practice in those books, welcome adrian!

Welcome Adrian!

I am a System Analyst and I can relate to the long hours in front of a computer. I have learned that you have to take some breaks once in a while (try using a timer...outlook/lotus notes alarm depending out what program you are using for your e-mail).

Also, have routine for that small chunk of time stretching (yoga), meditation, or some other useful routine.

Listen to your body....I believe with this program you will have a tendency to hear your body outloud:)

Malama pono,
Tracy

Hi Adrian,

Welcome to hps. You have chosen well. I was thinking along the same lines as Jos-hua and Alan as I read your intro. Some of the things may seem minor but you can bet that it would only be a downward spiral without cleansing and your decision to give it a try. I always like to hear the perspective of someone who was not exposed to the plethora of junk and processed foods early in their life. Being from Europe that must have been hard at the time. Unfortunately, my kids won't touch anything unless it is macaroni and cheese, hotdogs, pizza, frozen chicken fingers, or white bread (Boy do I have a job ahead of me). Anyways, welcome and my best wishes to you.

Marty

Welcome from me too Adrian,

I loved reading your intro - I love how we all come from such different back grounds here....

I too thought along the lines of Jos-hua, Alan, Marty - minor issues eh?!

Well I am excited for you , following this program will bring many changes for the better in your life.

Best wishes,
Belinda

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the welcome.

It is nice to know there are so many who have joined this new path to the top of the health heap.

You are indeed fortunate that there was a Josh-hua while you are still young and relatively unconscious of any major health ailments.

Good luck in this new discipline and do not be surprised if you happen on to an introduction for your parents. The universe seems to open to what is ultimately right in time. :)

Hi Adrian
I know you are getting ready to commence your formal cleanse and I want to wish you much success.

But as I was catching up on your intro, I was struck by the determination that you've exercised through your life.

....After my first year in highschool (15 years in age) I decided that the time has come for me to get rid of my excess weight, so I started my own program - which basically meant eating less and skipping some meals, doing that for a number of months. Basically, I "fought" my own family to do that - I just ignored them when they were pulling back on my old lifestyle (e.g. "finish up your entire portion"). I guess that was the first time I felt that if you really want (to do) something, then you have all you need to succeed! Actually, I need to remember that more often!...

In your other thread you also mentioned throwing away your glasses in order to focus on improving your eyesight - that also take courage and determination.

I'll be cheering you on as you progress through your cleansing.

Hello Adrian,

I thought your intro. was great! Some things you said really resonated with me, especially when you mentioned eating processed organic foods-- I do this too! So silly really. My mom really gets on my case about how much I spend to buy organic but when she catches me opening organic soup out of a can followed by a couple of cigarettes then she really gets going, I know she has a point. To which I usually say..."well, since I smoke and since I'm prone to eating 'convenience' foods, I need to watch my toxic intake all the more and every little bit helps, plus I like to support organic farming practices. To which she usually says, let somebody else support them, you've got bigger problems!".... oh well.

Also you said "you have all you need to succeed". This has been a recurring theme for me. It keeps coming up and I believe it to be true but I frequently fall into the "if only..." trap. Definately wish to work on this. Which actually brings me to a favor I wanted to ask...

I haven't recieved any mailings from my NW series since last week. It was the #0 introduction. I re-activated today from a new adress but (here's my impatience creeping up again) I really want to know what the next one says so that I can really get going... On the other hand, "I have all that I need to succeed" and because I have the books and have read some other threads I could probably get by a while longer without it if I must. I just thought I would ask you if you could e-mail it to me since you'r kind of at the same place as me (only a few paces ahead). If not or if you don't get this message by the time I finally get my next mailing--no harm done. Thank you.

Also, one last comment about your post. How awesome that you were able to solve your own problem with weight while you were still young and under the powerful influence of your parents. You are still so young and now you're doing this, how inspiring! You're so smart to get busy with all of this now. I first came across this type of info. 13 years ago but am only now attempting to REALLY do it--finding this site definately has helped to get the ball rolling, that's for sure. I am so thankful that this prayer has finally been answered for me through all of you.

Love and Light,
Sharley
