Hello all! New member here, looking forward to cleansing and experiencing a higher level of health, and quality of life, as you are trying to do also.

For the past five years, I've had a relatively sedentary job, compared to the more physically active jobs I had through most of my career. I've tried to compensate by working out harder, and have tried to watch my diet, but through it all, I've watched around 80 additional pounds get packed on during that time.

I first learned about cleansing a couple of years ago, but this is my first formal, guided cleanse. By taking herbs, psyllium powder, and raw fruit and vegetable juices, combined with giving up coffee and meat products for the most part, I've dropped about 25 pounds during the past two months. This has inspired me to continue deeper cleansing for real, and that is why I'm here. I'm feeling much better, and am looking forward to continuing with the group towards better health.

It looks like I probably won't be able to take any time off soon from work, so I'm trying to figure out how to manage juicing etc., during the seven day fast. I've been taking freshly made juices in a thermos bottle, but I read here somewhere that the life span of enzymes is only about 20 minutes after juicing. It seems like the juice would still be better than most anything else, except maybe for distilled water. How have others managed this situation? It would not be practical for me to bring a juicer into work et cetera, in my present circumstances. I've figured out a way to bring and take the herbs and the shakes, so maybe it's not really that big of an obstacle.

Anyway, I'm thrilled to be here. Best to all of you on your individual journeys! Oh, by the way, I'm male, and in fairly good health otherwise. I do get stressed occasionally, but not usually from work. My biggest stress comes from bumper to bumper traffic, machines that don't work properly, including computers, and people who don't do what they say they will when they have made commitments to others. Other than that, I'm a pretty easy going guy, but am very capable of being firm when necessary! Fairness and reasonableness are kind of my guiding principles not only in business, but in personal relationships too; and let's not forget respect, courtesy and good manners!

Well, thanks for having me.....that's all for now!

Welcome Louis,

Sounds like your determined to make a change in your life well your in the right place.

I feel your pain on the traffic man, I live in chicago where the orange construction horse should be the state animal.

There is a thread on jucing I believe it's in the General Forum or the Formal FAQ's forum. I cant remember exactly. Take some time and look around the site and you'll find almost everything you need. One of the many things I've learned here is that there are many many helpeful people here. If your concerned about losing enzymes, during your pre-cleanse maybe you should bring fresh fruit to work instead of jucing. Anyway I wish you all the best success in you road to good health.

Hi Louis,

Welcome to the group.

It's a pity you can't take time off for the formal cleanse - it's so worthwhile to give yourself the gift on concentrating on you for a week and the results are proportionate.

You'll work out what's best. It is true that juices lose their enzyme value after 20 mins. Jos-hua is the best person to ask about this and there lots of others who are wonderfully helpful and have lots of experience.

Wishing you all the best,

Love Niamh

Welcome Louis,

You can get a citrus juicer ($20) and do lemons at work. That's what I did. I felt great with the lemons, but could only tolerate it for two days - I think I was using too much juice and not enough water though. I fortunately only had to work two days. Maybe that will help. I also read in the Reid book that grapefruit juice is OK. I know that's not one of the recommended fruits on the cleanse though.

Have a good cleanse. Be sure to rest when you get home from work and do steams and massage. Please ask when you have questions. This has been such a supportive group for me. It's worth asking. Take care,

Welcome Louis,
I enjoyed reading your enthusiastic post regarding your getting control over you heath habits. Congratulations on how far you have come already. I support your efforts and surprisingly enough where there is a will, there is a way. I am planning my second cleanse while working as well. I had the Christmas break for my first one, and that worked well for me. I think I can manage working and will look for you postings with your cleanse. Good luck, take care of yourself. Love, Kay M
