Greetings to all,
I had no idea that being asked to repost our Introductions would be so thought provoking. The statistics are easy: I'm 50 years old, single mother of two sons, ages 24 & 28 and grandmother of four. I live in Alcoa, TN near the Great Smokey Mountains and have worked in the financial services industry for 27 years. The past 15 of those have been in a bank trust department.
When I first signed up for this program last February I also mentioned the myriad ailments I was suffering from--high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, joint & muscle pain from neck surgery, digestive distress, sinus problems, working too many hours and dealing with too much stress (or rather not dealing with it).
Now that I've completed Level 1 and Level 2 I can no longer describe myself by my aches, pains, and stress levels. I've managed to overcome most of those through this program. Now that my sons are no longer at home saying I'm a mother doesn't really describe who I am. It does set a frame of reference for who I was, since raising children entails years of defining moments. I know there will be more, but my role is different. And being a grandmother brings joy and delight to my days and reminds me once again how precious each moment is. I will continue on this cleansing path so that I can enjoy life to its fullest whatever comes my way.
This year will be a year of discovery for me because I want to know who I am beyond mother, grandmother, daughter, department manager and trust officer. I also want to find ways I can contribute to the community. I don't know yet what those contributions will be, but being part of this community has been the impetus for doing more.
Thanks to one an all for your time and encouragement.
