Introduction
Linda_M, Age 53, 7DW Level 1, Introduction
This is a repost, I was Lucilou6 in the beginning, and since I signed in wrong it has caused me some frustration and Jos-hua some time and effort to get me situated. I copied my intro letter and the responses and pasted them below. As eveyone keeps saying, you must follow the directions and I can certainly attest to that. I join the HPS Cleanse with much anticipation. My friend Robin has talked about the cleanse for the past 2 years and has encouraged me to join. I raise my 11 year old grandson, David. I have had custody of David since he was 2. Before that, I was a Type A driven personality. I own a business and I spent from early morning to late at night working. Each night I fell into bed exhausted. When I first got custody of my grandchild, David, I thought I could work and raise him. It didn't work out that way so after a year of doing both, neither very well, I retired, hired a staff and they run the business. I devote my time to raising him. After working hard for so many years I went to the opposite position and during these 8 years I have had so much time on my hands to eat and sit around, plus preparing meals for him, that I have slowed down and have gained 25 lbs. I have high blood pressure and take medication daily. In the past 3 years I have exercised consistently each day but it doesn't change my weight. I tend to binge and overeat on pastries and ice cream. I do many healthy things for myself but the out of control eating sabotages all my other efforts. I became depress about 5 years ago and tried therapy, finally the doctor prescribed Effexxor. The minute I started taking it I felt so much better and soon progressed to the point where I had no further depression. However, I was afraid to get off the medicine so I continued to take it for 4 years. Long after my doctor advised me to stop. This past January I went off Effexor, it was very difficult since there was a withdrawal period. I had ozone injections during the withdrawal period that helped with the symptoms. In the past month I have noticed that I am getting angry and upset easily and worry that maybe the depression is returning. That is another reason I want to get my eating and health in order. I'm glad you found your way here. It is a wonderful community. You will find that your own effort dictates the type of benefits you will notice on the cleansing path. Being a Type A personality that you mentioned, this may be just your cup of tea(since we Type A's love to have things in our control-ha). You will find a lot of support here. I understand your concerns regarding going off the antidepressant medication. I think many other cleansers, including myself, have experienced this same situation. Not taking drugs for this has been wonderful for me! Be kind to yourself. Wishing you the best as you begin your pre cleanse. Cheers, tina A Report this post to a moderator | 07-08-2003 06:59 AM Louise_L 7DW Level 3 Registered: Jan 2003 Location: Miami Posts: 272 Linda, If you follow the program, you will eat right. And it's amazing what getting your body into balance will do for your mind and your general sense of well being. And the high blood pressure can be managed. Start eating raw garlic (see the latest case study). Welcome, and I wish you much success. Follow the program and you will be amazed how your body responds. You are in the right place and I acknowledge your courage for taking action on what you want. I have ordered the Tao book that was recommended and plan to start food combining right away. I did that some time back on the Fit for Life program and felt very good while I was doing it. Why do you stop doing what works?? I plan to follow the HPS program and see where it leads. I signed up on the support group and paid the fee on the 3rd of July. If anyone understands please let me know. You should see my library -- Dean Ornish, John and Mary McDougall, Harvey and Marilyn Diamond, John Robbins, and on and on. In 1990 I found out I had to have spinal surgery. My husband and I went to a vegetarian fitness resort in Utah where we walked ten miles a day and learned how to eat healthy vegetarian food and stay fit. I breezed through the surgery and amazed the neurosurgeons. We kept up the vegan diet for several years, and walked three miles a day until Hurricane Andrew in 1994. I think the difference between all the good things I've done in the past and HPS is the support group. And I never thought I would say it, but there it is.
